Ex-National Signals Bureau Boss Adu-Boahen remanded for 7 Days

Kwabena Adu-Boahen, the former head of the National Signals Bureau, has been remanded. A High Court in Accra ordered his custody for seven days. This decision followed a hearing on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, requested the remand. He cited intelligence that Adu-Boahen tried to interfere with a key witness. The defense lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, disputed this claim. He questioned the credibility of the intelligence and his client’s influence over the witness.

The presiding judge deferred the ruling initially. He needed to review the intelligence evidence privately before deciding. After reviewing arguments and preliminary material, the court ordered Adu-Boahen's custody for a week.

The judge aimed to balance the accused's freedom with state preparations for witness statements. Meanwhile, two other accused individuals have been granted bail. They are Angela Adjei-Boateng, Adu-Boahen's wife, and Mildred Donkor, a former bank relations officer.

Dr. Ayine also mentioned ongoing investigations involving Adu-Boahen at Ghana Water Limited. This suggests he may face more legal issues soon. Adu-Boahen is set to reappear in court on Friday, May 9, 2025.
