Excessive politicisation cause of business instability in Ghana – Adawudu

Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu is a member of the NDC legal and communications team. He spoke on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on April 21. He linked business instability in Ghana to excessive politicization of the private sector.

Adawudu noted that political interference harms sustainable growth. He said some business leaders create a hostile environment for businesses. When businesses align with political parties, they often face backlash after government changes.

He explained that some business owners misuse their influence in politics. This makes them targets when their preferred candidates lose power.

Adawudu described the cycle of business growth and decline as troubling. "It’s like two steps forward and three steps back," he said. He believes both politics and business leaders contribute to this issue.

He added that when businesses thrive, owners feel powerful in politics. They believe they can influence who becomes a leader or wins elections. However, if an opposing candidate wins, these businesses may suffer consequences due to their past actions.
