Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare has dismissed claims that repackaged expired rice was distributed to Senior High Schools (SHSs), describing the allegations as propaganda.
Her remarks come after North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused Lamens Investment Africa Limited of supplying 22,000 bags of expired rice to schools.
Osei Opare urged Ghanaians to focus on progress in education rather than rumors.
The Ministry of Education also backed her stance, with its PRO, Kwasi Kwarteng, stating that the rice was certified safe by the FDA. He added that penalties against Lamens were for procedural lapses, not food safety issues.
The controversy has sparked calls for accountability and better oversight in food supplies for schools.
