The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has declared its willingness to undergo audits by local and international bodies to verify its actions regarding claims of distributing unwholesome rice to Senior High Schools.
At a press briefing, FDA CEO Dr. Delese Mimi Darko emphasized that all approvals followed strict regulatory standards and international food safety practices, including extensions of best-before dates after rigorous testing.
Dr. Darko reassured the public that the over 22,000 bags of rice imported by Lamens Investments Africa Limited underwent comprehensive testing by the FDA and independent agencies like CSIR-FRI and PPRSD, confirming that the rice was safe for consumption.
Amid public criticism, the FDA reiterated its commitment to transparency and protecting public health while addressing regulatory concerns.
