The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned consumers to be cautious when buying palm oil due to ongoing issues with adulteration.
The FDA is particularly concerned about the presence of ‘Sudan Four’ dye, a banned substance with carcinogenic properties found in some palm oil products.
Despite efforts to combat this problem, FDA Deputy Chief Executive Roderick Daddey-Adjei noted that even small amounts of contamination are unacceptable and warned that those involved in such practices are being targeted.
The FDA has recently made arrests related to this issue.
