The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is intensifying efforts to remove uncertified diapers and sanitary pads from the Ghanaian market, warning of serious health risks.
FDA CEO Dr. Delese Mimi Darko, who has served under both NDC and NPP administrations, remains committed to public safety despite resistance from vested interests.
Investigations reveal that some CEPS officials allegedly auction seized unsafe products back to importers, allowing them to re-enter the market.
Dr. Darko insists such hazardous goods must be destroyed, advocating for stricter enforcement and blacklisting of those involved.
She also urges greater support for local manufacturers, who can meet demand with high-quality products.
The FDA is calling on the public to report harmful sanitary products to help protect consumers.
