FDA engages stakeholders on new advertisement guidelines for regulated products

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) recently held a stakeholder meeting. This session aimed to review and finalize guidelines for advertising regulated products in Ghana.

Key players from the food, cosmetics, and household chemicals industries attended. They discussed an updated framework for advertising approval. The goal is to streamline the process and improve regulatory oversight.

Rhoda Ewurabena Appiah, FDA’s Head of Communication, spoke to the media. She noted that the revised guidelines fill gaps in regulating promotional content on social media.

“In the past, we lacked strict rules for social media,” she said. “The new framework allows companies to submit a yearly campaign plan instead of seeking approval for each ad.”

This change aims to promote responsible advertising while easing the administrative burden on businesses.
