An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced two men to three months in prison. They were involved in stealing a television set at Nungua, Accra.
Isaac Bortey, 28, is a factory hand. He was convicted of unlawful entry and theft. David Abu Bonnah, 52, is a businessman. He was sentenced for receiving the stolen television.
Both men pleaded guilty with explanations. However, the court ruled their explanations did not clear them. The court entered a guilty plea on their behalf.
The court advised the convicts to behave well in the future.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Kofi Anane led the prosecution. He stated that the complainant is a security officer living in Nungua.
On May 17, 2025, at about 3:16 AM, Bortey unlawfully entered the complainant’s premises. A witness and caretaker named Albert Alabi Tsokosi was in an adjoining room.
Bortey stole a black Samsung television mounted on the wall. On May 28, 2025, the complainant and witness Ebenezer Badu caught Bortey and reported him to the police.
During questioning, Bortey admitted his crime and named Bonnah as the receiver of the stolen TV.
On May 30, 2025, investigators arrested Bonnah while he had possession of the stolen television.
Both men are currently serving their sentences.
