Failure to condemn Police attacks in Bawku threatens stability – Mamprugu Overlord

The Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, is worried about violence in Bawku. He noted the lack of strong condemnation for attacks on security personnel and state property.

After a briefing from Bawku Naaba, Naa Sheriga Alhaji Seidu Abagre, he expressed sorrow over ongoing hostilities. This continues despite calls for peace from President John Mahama and Otumfuo.

He condemned unlawful acts by some Kusasi youth. These include arson, destruction of property, and threats to security personnel. Such actions have alarmed the people of Mamprugu.

Naa Sheriga criticized the recent visit by the Inspector-General of Police to Bawku. He felt it lacked balance and seriousness. No strong warnings were given to those instigating violence.

He also expressed disappointment that fallen officers were not honored properly. "Such omissions risk demoralizing our security forces," he cautioned. He urged authorities to act swiftly to restore stability.
