This revelation comes as the family addresses public speculation surrounding her funeral arrangements and reinforces the importance of following cultural protocols.

Representing the family, Opanin Yaw Poku stressed the need to formally inform the Asantehene of Akua Donkor’s passing before any funeral dates are finalized. "

It is simply against our customs to arrange dates without Otumfuo’s consent," he stated. He clarified that contrary to media reports, no one-week observance has been authorized.

Following Akua Donkor’s death, announcements of a one-week observance quickly surfaced on social media and posters, sparking confusion. The family voiced their surprise at this misinformation, with Opanin Poku urging the public to disregard it as "fake news."

He noted, “We were shocked to see posters suggesting we organized a one-week observation when we have not.”

The family also dismissed claims of receiving money from the GFP for funeral arrangements, reiterating their commitment to upholding cultural respect and tradition.
