Feed Ghana Programme is a Game-Changer for Agriculture – GAPFA

The President of the Greater Accra Poultry Farmers Association (GAPFA) is confident in the Feed Ghana Programme. He believes it can transform Ghana’s food systems.

Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily, Anim-Somuah expressed GAPFA’s commitment to the programme. He said, “As farmers, we are ready to embrace this opportunity.” He added that they aim to expand their farms and feed the country.

Anim-Somuah highlighted that GAPFA is a significant force in agriculture. The association has around 800 active poultry farmers. Many non-members also rely on GAPFA for poultry needs.

He stated, “We are the largest organised poultry farmer association in Ghana.” This strong membership gives them confidence in supporting the Feed Ghana Programme.

GAPFA also stands out for having one of the largest women farmer groups in Ghana. Anim-Somuah believes this positions them well to drive the programme's success. “Our numbers give us strength,” he emphasized.

The Feed Ghana Programme launched on April 12, 2025. It aims to address food security challenges in Ghana. Spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama, it is part of the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA).

The programme seeks to modernize farming practices and increase food production. It also aims to improve agricultural infrastructure and create agro-industrial zones across the country. Additionally, it focuses on generating employment and promoting national food self-sufficiency.

Anim-Somuah noted that this initiative comes at a crucial time for organized farmers looking to boost productivity.
