“Finally the scales of self-denial have fallen off!” – Franklin Cudjoe to NPP

Franklin Cudjoe, president of IMANI Africa, commented on the NPP's situation. He believes the party has finally recognized its issues.

His remarks followed Dr. Bawumia's admission of hardship in the country. Dr. Bawumia cited government arrogance, the e-levy, and debt restructuring as causes for their defeat. He spoke to party members in Takoradi during a Thank You tour on April 26.

Dr. Bawumia noted that studies revealed major complaints about living costs and government actions. He mentioned that the party had suggested reshuffling ministerial portfolios.

For eight years, he said, they ignored advice against implementing the e-levy and debt restructuring. Dr. Bawumia expressed regret over promises made by the president regarding no "haircuts" for Ghanaians.

He pointed out that many programs were underfunded or not paid at all. This included NABCO and afforestation projects, which affected many citizens.

Dr. Bawumia also highlighted a lack of development in key voting regions like Western Region. He stated that going into the 2024 elections, unity within the NPP is lacking.

Cudjoe responded to Dr. Bawumia's comments on X, urging him to take responsibility for leadership failures. He criticized the delay in acknowledging these issues during the campaign.

Cudjoe emphasized that admitting mistakes earlier could have softened voter backlash. He concluded by questioning the value of previous reports meant to address these problems.
