Finance Minister meets IFC MD to deepen cooperation in key sectors

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson met with Makhtar Diop, the Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This meeting aimed to strengthen Ghana’s partnership with the IFC.

Diop expressed the IFC’s interest in investing strategically in Ghana. He suggested focusing on areas that could boost productivity and economic returns. He also noted that Ghana is not fully utilizing its diaspora, which has great potential for development.

Dr. Forson thanked the IFC for its support. He sent warm greetings from former President John Dramani Mahama. He invited Mr. Diop to visit Accra soon.

Dr. Forson reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to attracting private sector investment. He called for deeper collaboration in infrastructure and agriculture development.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, attended the meeting as well. He highlighted the importance of cooperation in the financial sector. He mentioned that Ghana could benefit from IFC support to stabilize specialized deposit-taking institutions.

Also present were Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), and Mr. Seth Terkper, Senior Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance.
