Finance ministry refutes claims of paying Kalyjay GHC300k to organise a pre-budget workshop on X

The Finance Ministry has denied claims made by some netizens. They alleged that the ministry paid social media influencer Kalyjay GHC300,000 to organize a pre-budget workshop on X.

In a post on X, the ministry stated these allegations are false. They also said an alleged memo from them is fake.

Recently, some users on X claimed the Finance Ministry spent GHC300,000 for this workshop. This discussion arose ahead of the 2025 Budget Presentation scheduled for March 11, 2025.

On March 9, 2025, the Finance Minister hosted a live discussion on X Spaces. He encouraged young Ghanaians to share their views about the upcoming budget.

An alleged memo shared by netizens claimed the ministry wanted to organize a Pre-Budget Workshop. It aimed to gather youth opinions for developing the 2025 Budget and requested GHC300,000 for this purpose.

The memo included details on how the funds would be used. Some netizens expressed outrage over this claim in various posts.

One user questioned why the Finance Minister would pay Kalyjay but not others. Another user criticized Kalyjay and compared him unfavorably to another influencer.

The Finance Ministry's official account responded with a tweet denying these claims.
