In the early hours of November 14, over 15 wooden structures used as warehouses, stores, and residences were destroyed in a fire at Odawna, Circle, Ghana.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) team responded quickly, but restricted access by the Odawna gutter complicated firefighting efforts.
Despite these challenges, the firefighters managed to save over 200 surrounding structures.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though faulty wiring, negligence, or illegal connections are suspected.
Last year’s reports indicated 5,256 fire incidents between January and November, with urban fires frequently linked to poor electrical connections, negligence, and domestic accidents.
