The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has clarified its policy on fire reports. These reports are issued after incidents in markets or public facilities. They come at a fee, which supports the Service’s operations and public safety efforts.
ADO 1 Derrick Elorm Adzokpa from the GNFS Public Relations Department explained this on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily. He stated that investigations occur after fire outbreaks. However, final reports are only given upon formal request and payment of a processing fee.
Adzokpa noted that while the GNFS conducts investigations, official reports are not automatically shared. Stakeholders must formally request them to receive the information. The processing fee is less than GHS 150.
This clarification comes as scrutiny increases over fire outbreaks in major markets. The GNFS emphasized that these reports help understand causes and prevent future incidents.
“When we finalize our investigation, we speak to market leaders,” Adzokpa said. “Then we give them the report at a fee.” He added that paying this fee helps support government funding for the GNFS's work in providing comprehensive support to Ghanaians.
