Businessman and philanthropist Seidu Agongo has called for an investigation into alleged corruption. He urged the Mahama administration to act quickly. The investigation should expose mismanagement under former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government. Mr. Agongo believes this process should not take more than six months.
Speaking on CTV's Master of the Game show, he emphasized the need for accountability. He stated that wrongdoers must be held responsible, regardless of their political ties. “It should be as soon as possible,” he said. “They should uncover all the rot and take necessary actions.”
Mr. Agongo described the suffering in Ghana as unacceptable. He highlighted issues like women giving birth on floors and people struggling to find food. Many are unable to pay school fees or earn a living.
He criticized political favoritism and unmeritorious appointments in governance. “You’re appointed not because you worked hard, but because you’re someone’s favorite,” he explained. This culture undermines accountability and governance.
He warned against delays in addressing wrongdoing among political elites. “It shouldn’t take more than six months for such actions,” he said, referring to mutual protection among politicians.
Mr. Agongo painted a bleak picture of life in Ghana today. He mentioned the struggles of market women at Agbogbloshie and poor road conditions on major highways like Kumasi–Accra. Access to basic amenities like water is also a challenge.
“Some of us can’t enter politics,” he said, expressing frustration over leaders neglecting citizens' needs while they suffer.
