Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a veteran journalist and Managing Editor of Insight Newspaper, expressed his frustration with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He stated that both parties claim there is no dumsor. However, Ghanaians just want the issue resolved. He emphasized that the erratic power problem needs fixing. He called for an end to pointless political debates about power outages.
Pratt shared a personal experience where his house nearly caught fire due to dumsor. Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, he criticized the ongoing political arguments. He said these discussions are useless while people suffer from power outages.
He noted that before the NPP left office, Ghana faced serious power issues. This situation has continued under the NDC for five months. Pratt questioned why officials deny dumsor exists when people are suffering from outages.
He highlighted the impact on vulnerable groups like nursing mothers and those with food in freezers. He urged leaders to consider these scenarios and fix the problem instead of engaging in politics.
Pratt recounted his own near-miss with a fire caused by power outages weeks ago. He urged politicians to stop blaming each other.
In response, John Jinapor reassured Ghanaians not to panic about potential power crises. Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, he clarified that 450,000 barrels of light crude oil will arrive this weekend.
Jinapor mentioned that they currently have 2.6 days of fuel stock but assured everyone that help is on the way. He stated there is no looming power crisis and encouraged calm among citizens.
