Residents of Acherensua and Ntotroso in the Ahafo region are in urgent need. They want the government to repair the dilapidated bridge over the Tano River. This bridge connects their two communities.
They have reached out to Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways. They also contacted Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance. They hope these officials will work together on a lasting solution.
Mr. Kwame Agbodza recently visited the Acherensua-Ntotroso road. He assessed its condition along with other routes like Tepa-Goaso and Kenyasi inland roads.
The bridge was built during colonial times and has not been renovated since. It collapsed four years ago, creating a significant danger for drivers and passengers.
Commercial driver Yaw Ampofo expressed his concerns about the situation. He said the deteriorating bridge makes taxi operations unprofitable and unsafe. What should be a vital transport route is now a potential death trap.
He noted that a promise was made by the previous government to repair it within six months. He urged the current administration to prioritize this critical project.
Linda Asor, a farmer who regularly uses this route, shared her experience too. She mentioned that the broken bridge forces travelers to take longer detours to Kenyasi and back. This leads to increased transportation costs for everyone.
Therefore, residents are appealing for urgent action from authorities on this project. They want to prevent further hardship for commuters and restore safe transportation for their communities.
