President John Dramani Mahama launched the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP) on Saturday. The goal is to ensure food security and create sustainable jobs in agriculture.
The FGP is part of the broader Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda. It serves as the main initiative for all government agricultural projects.
The program focuses on nine key areas. These include increasing food production and promoting modern farming practices. It also aims to strengthen infrastructure and create agro-industrial zones.
During the launch, President Mahama interacted with Mr. Eric Opoku, the Food and Agriculture Minister.
Key initiatives include establishing farmers’ service centers across the country. These centers will provide mechanization services and support various agricultural projects. They will focus on grains, legumes, vegetables, poultry, livestock, and tree crops. Additionally, there will be innovative agricultural financing options available.
