Foreign Affairs Minister engages Ghanaian community in Benin

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, recently met with Ghanaians in Benin. This meeting is part of a new initiative to connect with Ghanaians living abroad.

Over 2,000 community members attended the meeting. They shared their concerns and challenges during the discussion. A major issue raised was the Representation of the People Amendment Law (ROPAL). This law would allow them to vote from abroad.

Minister Ablakwa assured the community that the government is committed to addressing their issues. He announced a $2 million emergency fund for Ghanaians abroad in crisis situations.

The Minister's visit highlights the government's dedication to engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora. It aims to ensure their voices are heard and needs are met.
