The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ghana has launched a new service. This service allows passport delivery to homes and offices. It started on Friday, May 9.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is leading this initiative. The ministry partnered with Ghana Post and Troskit for this service. The goal is to deliver passports within 15 days of application.
Minister Ablakwa spoke to the media about the changes. He said the new service will reduce delays and middlemen interference, known as "goro boys." Applicants no longer need to return to the passport center for their passports.
He also announced that the passport office now operates 24 hours a day. This aligns with President Mahama’s vision for a 24-hour economy in Ghana.
Additionally, e-tracking has been introduced for applicants. This feature allows them to track their applications from start to finish. Ablakwa emphasized that these reforms aim to eliminate bottlenecks in the process and reduce reliance on middlemen.
