Foreign Service Institute to gain semi-autonomous status

Plans are in place to gain Cabinet approval for the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced this. He stated that the reform would give FSI more operational flexibility and independence.

This change aims to help FSI expand its activities and deepen international partnerships. It will also attract sustainable funding for its expanded mandate.

Mr. Ablakwa made these comments on Friday during the inauguration of a new governing council. This council has 15 members and is the first of its kind.

Mr. Ablakwa chairs the council, which includes several ambassadors and other members. They are Amb Ramses J. Cleland, Amb Philibert I.K.A Johnson, Amb Jane Gasu, Amb Muhammad Adam, Mr. Fred Amissah, Mr. Kofi Safo Akyea, and Mr. Clarence Amoatey.
