The Forestry Commission's Rapid Response team has raided an illegal mining camp in the Subri Forest Reserve, Western Region, arresting four armed Ghanaians: Innussah Yussif, Issah Seidu, Shadrack Yowson, and Emmanuel Adawusu.
The team seized five pump action guns, 77 rounds of ammunition, and burned three excavators.
The camp, located in a Globally Significant Biodiversity Area, was reportedly supported by influential figures.
The operation, part of a broader crackdown on illegal mining, highlights ongoing efforts to combat environmental degradation in Ghana's forest reserves.
The seized items have been handed over to Takoradi police for further investigation.
