Forgive our mistakes, we’ll do better in future – Bawumia begs Ghanaians

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has acknowledged mistakes by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is the party's flagbearer for upcoming elections. He made a heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians for forgiveness. He promised improved leadership and governance in the future.

This statement comes after criticisms that he was distancing himself from past failures. During the party’s “Thank You Tour” in Goaso, he expressed gratitude and reflected on shortcomings of his administration. He humbly stated, “We recognize that we have made mistakes along the way, and we sincerely ask for your forgiveness.”

Dr. Bawumia described the tour as more than just a celebration. He emphasized it was a moment for “sober reflection.” He assured Ghanaians that their voices had been heard. “This Thank You Tour is not just a celebration; it is also a moment of sober reflection,” he said.

He added, “We have listened to your concerns, and we are determined to chart a new path forward together.” Departing from typical political blame games, Dr. Bawumia pledged to take responsibility for government lapses. “We will not make excuses,” he said.

Instead, he promised to correct past mistakes and improve governance in the future. He concluded with a call for unity and commitment to national development: “Let us move forward together with a renewed sense of purpose.”

He stressed that they owe it to every Ghanaian to serve with humility and dedication.
