Former Akuapem North MP sues TikToker; demands GH₵5m for defamation

Former Akuapem North Member of Parliament, Josephine Panyin Mensah, has filed a defamation lawsuit against popular TikToker, Abena Korkor. The legal action, initiated at the Accra High Court, seeks a staggering GH₵5 million in damages. The suit stems from allegations made by Korkor on social media platforms that accused Mensah of engaging in extramarital affairs with various men, including a supposed relationship with a pastor.

Mensah asserts that these claims are entirely false and have severely damaged her reputation and personal life. In her court documents, she describes Korkor's statements as not only baseless but also maliciously intended to tarnish her image publicly. Furthermore, the former MP argues that such unfounded accusations can have lasting repercussions on her standing within the community and beyond.

The case underscores the growing concerns regarding online defamation and its impact on individuals' lives in an increasingly digital age. As the matter unfolds in court, it raises important questions about accountability for social media influencers and their influence on public perception.
