Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), faces serious charges. He is accused of embezzling state funds and laundering them through real estate in Accra.
Adu-Boahene allegedly acquired properties both locally and abroad. He served as Deputy Director-General before becoming the Director from 2017 to 2025.
Reports claim he misappropriated funds through contracts signed on behalf of the state. He reportedly used a private firm he established for this purpose. This private business closely resembled NSB operations and was run with his wife.
It is alleged that Adu-Boahene misappropriated $2,217,815 million. He invested this money in properties in Accra and overseas.
Most of these properties are located in La, a community in Accra. Others are along the Eastern Corridor road, particularly the Accra-Akosombo stretch.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, revealed these details during a press conference on March 24.
Adu-Boahene was arrested on March 20 at Kotoko International Airport. The National Investigations Bureau detained him upon his return from abroad.
The Attorney General also discussed the defunct anti-corruption agency, Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL). This agency aimed to identify and recover stolen state assets under the NDC government.
