Former-Deputy Health Minister blames Agenda 111 delays on sacked staff

Former Deputy Health Minister and Akim-Oda MP, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has attributed the delay in opening some completed Agenda 111 hospitals to the termination of health workers recruited under the previous administration.

Speaking after President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, Acquah revealed that three fully equipped hospitals—Trede (Atwima Kwanwoma), Kokoben (Oforikrom), and Bokro (Ahanta West)—remain non-operational due to a shortage of medical personnel.

He argued that dismissing previously recruited staff has left the Ghana Health Service unable to post workers to these facilities.

“If you sack them, who will run the hospitals?” he questioned, urging a review of the decision to ensure the new facilities serve their intended purpose.
