Former Hajj Board spokesperson, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Gomda, has refuted claims by the interim Hajj committee that the previous board left behind over $5 million in debt.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on February 5, Gomda clarified that the actual outstanding amount is $4,759,250, not the alleged $5 million.
He further revealed that when the former board took office, it inherited a $7.87 million debt, which was gradually reduced.
Gomda also criticized the use of the term “discovery” in reference to the debt, arguing that it falsely implies hidden wrongdoing.
He insisted that all financial records, including the outstanding liabilities, were transparently handed over to the new administration.
