Alfred Agbesi, former Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, has died.
He served the Ashaiman constituency from 2005 to 2016. In 2015, he lost his seat to Ernest Norgbey in the NDC primaries.
The cause of death is not yet known.
Agbesi had a notable political career. In 2008, he was re-elected as an MP. He then represented Ghana in the ECOWAS Parliament.
He participated in discussions on regional issues in 2009 and 2013. Agbesi also served as deputy majority leader in Ghana's parliament.
His career faced challenges, including a serious accident in 2017.
Agbesi was injured when his vehicle collided with a truck on the Tema-Aflao Highway. This incident occurred near Dawhenya, close to Central University’s Miotso campus.
He was taken to Tema General Hospital for treatment and admitted for care.
