Former NPP Deputy National Youth Organiser eyes Women Organiser role

Perpetual Ekua Lomokie, a former Deputy National Youth Organiser of the NPP, is running for National Women's Organiser. If elected, she aims to be the youngest person in this role.

In her statement, Ms. Lomokie expressed optimism about women's potential in the party. She believes that when united and resourced, women can lead the NPP to victory in 2028.

Her vision is straightforward: create opportunities for women at all levels. She wants them to thrive, contribute meaningfully, and rise into leadership positions.

Ms. Lomokie is committed to listening and leading with compassion. She aims to ensure that women's needs and ideas shape the future of the NPP.

To achieve this, she emphasizes rebuilding trust and reigniting passion within the party.

Ghana's voter population is currently 18,772,251. Of these voters, 9,689,987 are female (51.6%) and 9,082,264 are male (48.4%).

Notably, 55.1% of registered voters are aged between 18 and 35 years old. This demographic includes 10,343,810 individuals.

Ms. Lomokie believes it’s crucial for the party to choose leaders who connect with young voters. These leaders should understand grassroots mobilization and energize the party base.

She stresses the importance of mobilizing motivated young women to help recapture lost parliamentary seats. Additionally, she aims to improve performance in strongholds and compete effectively against the NDC.

Key stakeholders include students, market women, middle-class citizens, and young women in informal sectors like seamstresses and hairdressers.
