Former Lower West Akim MP, Gifty Klenam, has defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She publicly announced her switch on Thursday after obtaining her NDC membership card in the Anlo Constituency of the Volta Region.
Explaining her decision, Klenam stated that after consulting her family, she found the NDC’s ideology and policies more aligned with her vision for Ghana.
She expressed confidence in the party’s 2024 manifesto, believing it offers the best path for national development under John Mahama’s leadership.
Her defection, given her past prominence in the NPP and government, has sparked discussions in political circles, with many interpreting it as a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape.
