Former NSS Deputy Director arrested over ghost names payroll fraud

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has arrested Kwaku Ohene Gyan (Osonoba), a former Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), over alleged involvement in a ghost names and payroll fraud scandal.

His arrest on Saturday, February 22, 2025, follows revelations by the Finance Ministry that at least 80,000 ghost names were discovered on the NSS payroll while settling payment arrears.

According to reports, Ohene Gyan’s detention marks the beginning of a broader crackdown, with more accomplices expected to be apprehended in the coming days.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to address payroll irregularities and corruption within the scheme.
