Dr. Farouk Aliu Mahama, former MP for Yendi, donated GH¢10,000. He also gave ten bags of maize and rice. Additionally, he provided five gallons of cooking oil and five cartons of tinned tomatoes. A bull and bags of sachet water were included in the donation as well.
The late Mion Lana, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V, passed away on August 17, 2022. He died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. His burial took place in Sambu, the traditional capital of Mion, following Islamic customs.
Born in 1974, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai was enskinned on March 3, 2019. He was known for his leadership and dedication to the Dagbon Kingdom.
During his visit, Dr. Farouk urged local youth to promote peace and unity. He called this a lasting legacy of the late Mion Lana. He stressed that peace is vital for development in Mion and Yendi.
Dr. Farouk assured the family of ongoing support whenever needed. Kumabaga Naa Mahama Bukari thanked him on behalf of the bereaved family. This was Dr. Farouk's third donation for the funeral rites.
As chiefs and dignitaries gathered, traditional drummers began to sing praises for the late chief. They highlighted his achievements and virtues while the crowd swayed to the music.
The event celebrated Dagbon’s rich cultural heritage through intricate regalia designs and powerful drum rhythms. The final funeral rites honored Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V’s life and legacy for future generations.
