Accra Flooding: Four-Year-Old Among Multiple Deaths Reported After Downpour
At least three people have died due to flooding on May 18. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adentan, Ella Esiman Nongo, confirmed the deaths to Citi FM.
The fatalities occurred in Lakeside, Nanakrom, and New Legon. Two victims were from Lakeside, including a four-year-old girl from Nanakrom. A gentleman also died near New Legon.
The flooding followed hours of heavy rain. Areas severely affected included Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Adenta-Dodowa, and Tema.
The floods caused major traffic jams and stranded many pedestrians. In Ofankor Barrier, vehicles could not move at all. Some people had to leave their flooded homes for safety until the water recedes.
Ghanaian content creator Kwadwo Sheldon reported his home was flooded. He shared videos of the situation online and criticized the estate's management. He hinted at possible legal action against them for the damage caused.
