Ghana's human rights advocate and MP for Madina, Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu, has joined the Coalition for an Effective African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. This membership highlights Ghana’s leadership in human rights advocacy.

The confirmation was signed by Coalition Coordinator Sophia Ebby. Hon. Sosu is now part of a select group of legal professionals working to strengthen the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

As a full member, he will engage in high-level advocacy initiatives. He will also receive updates from the Court and collaborate with leading legal organizations. His role will help shape Africa’s human rights future.

The Coalition states that membership provides capacity-building opportunities. It also enhances collaboration among Africa’s top human rights defenders. Hon. Sosu joins prominent institutions like the Tanganyika Law Society and Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

His admission recognizes his long-standing work in human rights and social justice. He advocates for legal reforms in Parliament and courts. He has fought for remand prisoners' rights and seeks to abolish the death penalty in Ghana.

Hon. Sosu is also behind a bill to criminalize witchcraft accusations and gender-based abuse. His fearless advocacy has earned him local and international acclaim.

Headquartered in Arusha, Tanzania, the African Court Coalition collaborates with key regional institutions. Its mission is to promote human rights, advance legal accountability, and foster solidarity against abuses.

As Ghana pursues reforms in criminal justice, gender equality, and press freedom, Hon. Sosu's role strengthens Ghana's influence in shaping Africa's legal future.
