IMANI Africa President, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticized the reintroduction of a monthly Sanitation Day in Accra, arguing that more innovative solutions are needed to tackle waste management.

The initiative, announced by Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo, aligns with the NDC government’s Clean Up Ghana agenda and will be observed on the last Friday of each month.

Ocloo emphasized that sanitation would be a key performance indicator for MMDCEs.

However, Cudjoe, in a social media post, urged a pause on the plan, advocating for practical and entrepreneurial approaches to addressing Accra’s sanitation challenges.

He referenced IMANI’s research on sanitation reforms, suggesting alternative strategies beyond periodic clean-up exercises.
