The Minority in Parliament has raised concerns over the silence of teacher unions and the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) regarding claims of repackaged expired rice distributed to Senior High Schools.

North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused Lamens Investment Africa Limited and the National Food Buffer Stock Company of supplying 22,000 bags of expired rice in February 2024.

Speaking to journalists, he called for urgent action from stakeholders to address the issue and ensure accountability.

The Minority urged investigations, questioning CHASS and school heads for accepting allegedly contaminated supplies, which they say undermines trust in the education system and risks students' welfare.
