Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has called for an independent investigation into the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) approval of extending the shelf life of 22,000 bags of rice distributed to secondary schools.
Despite the FDA’s claim that the approval followed regulatory standards, Ablakwa raised concerns about the impact on students who consumed the rice.
In an interview with Citi News, he stressed the need for transparency and accountability, suggesting both local and international audits.
Ablakwa criticized the FDA’s handling of the situation, calling for an independent inquiry to address the issue. He also expressed disappointment with President Akufo-Addo's lack of action on the matter.
