Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South and former Deputy Education Minister, has hailed the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy as one of Ghana’s most transformative initiatives.

Speaking on GHOne TV’s State of Affairs, he acknowledged challenges but emphasized the policy's success in increasing student enrollment.

He noted that Free SHS enrollment rose from 830,000 to 1.5 million students, removing systemic barriers that previously excluded over 150,000 eligible students due to limited space.

The controversial double-track system, he explained, was a necessary step to ensure inclusivity.

Rev. Fordjour highlighted investments in over 2,500 educational facilities, including classrooms, dormitories, and laboratories, between 2017 and 2024. These advancements, he asserted, have built a skilled student base poised to contribute significantly to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
