Free SHS policy will stay; Nobody will scrap it – Mahama assures

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that his administration will maintain the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, refuting claims made during the election campaign that he would abolish it.

Speaking to Voice of America, Mahama emphasized that the policy is not going anywhere, despite political propaganda suggesting otherwise.

Introduced in 2017, Free SHS offers free tuition, boarding, and meals for students in public senior high schools, benefiting many underprivileged families.

While the program has faced challenges like overcrowded classrooms and funding delays, Mahama pledged to secure dedicated funding to improve its implementation.

His commitment to Free SHS was a central part of his campaign, reassuring parents and students about its future under his leadership.
