President John Dramani Mahama has nominated several individuals for District Chief Executives (DCEs). This is in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The nominations cover districts in the Volta, Oti, Ahafo, and Bono Regions. Each nominee must be approved by their respective District Assemblies.
In the Volta Region, nominees include Stephen Adom for Ho and Prosper Kumi for Hohoe. Nicholas Kwabla Worlahcie is nominated for Ketu South.
For the Oti Region, Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka is nominated for Akan. Eric Kwaku Oppong will represent Blakoye, while Parke-Davis Magyigbe is nominated for Buem.
In the Ahafo Region, Joseph Akparibo is nominated for Asunafo North. Collins Asoma has been nominated for Berekum West in the Bono Region.
These nominations are an important step in local governance. The President trusts these individuals to lead development in their districts. Final appointments will depend on approval from the respective assemblies.
