The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has strongly denied media reports suggesting that its officials misled Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, regarding alleged drug trafficking involving two aircraft at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

In a press statement dated April 8, 2025, GACL described the reports as "baseless and misleading," stressing that the company had no role in issuing landing permits or conducting security operations related to the aircraft.

According to the statement, landing permits are solely issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in collaboration with National Security. It added that both aircraft underwent thorough security checks by Aviation Security and National Security, with Swissport providing ground handling services. No illegal substances were found on board either aircraft.

GACL also clarified that its Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has never communicated with Rev. Fordjour and holds no affiliation with him.

The company cautioned against the spread of misinformation and warned that it will take legal action against individuals or media outlets responsible for publishing defamatory content.

It concluded by urging the public to disregard what it described as fictitious and malicious reports aimed at tarnishing the image of GACL, its management, and the government.
