GAF commanders pledge entire month’s salary to Mahama Cares Fund

Service Commanders of the Ghana Armed Forces (GFA) have donated their salaries. They contributed one month's basic salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares.

This donation supports efforts to provide medical relief for vulnerable Ghanaians. It targets those battling serious health issues like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and chronic kidney failure.

On May 16, during a visit to President John Dramani Mahama, Brigadier General William Agyapong spoke for the military leadership. He highlighted the fund's importance in easing burdens on citizens with critical health challenges.

He said, “We are heartened that people with conditions like cancer will benefit from this fund. That is why my military command and I decided to contribute our one-month salary.”

President Mahama thanked the Armed Forces for their generosity. He called it a remarkable show of patriotism and compassion.

He stated, “This initiative shows you care about more than just protecting our borders. You have love for the country and its people.”

The Mahama Cares initiative aims to provide financial support for individuals with chronic illnesses. It seeks to ensure fair healthcare access for those facing financial barriers to treatment.
