GAF probes alleged assault by soldiers in Kumasi; places officers under close arrest

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is investigating an alleged assault. This incident involved seven military personnel in Kumasi on Friday, 28 March 2025.

A statement from the Military High Command details the event. Three officers and four soldiers reportedly arrested and assaulted three civilians. The civilians were accused of stealing a mobile phone.

As a result of the altercation, the civilians sustained various injuries.

In response to these allegations, the Military Police and Ashanti Regional Police CID are conducting a joint investigation. They aim to determine the facts of the case.

The officers and soldiers involved have been placed under closed arrest. This will remain until the inquiry concludes.

The Military High Command assured that anyone found guilty will face legal consequences. They emphasized their commitment to discipline and accountability.

They also called for calm during this investigation. The public is urged to allow due process to unfold.

Additionally, they asked families and friends of the victims to stay calm while awaiting results.
