GAF to resume general releases of soldiers in May

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will resume releasing soldiers in May 2025.

This applies to those who have completed 30 years of service.

Captain Veronica Arhin, Acting Director General Public Relations of GAF, made the announcement.

The general release of soldiers was suspended for five years. This suspension followed CI 129, which extended their terms of service.

The first group to be released after this suspension will be in May 2025.

This group includes personnel from the 1995 and 1996 year groups. They have either completed 30 years of service or reached retirement age.

Future releases will continue as other year groups finish their service.

GAF appreciates the sacrifices and loyalty shown by these members throughout their careers.

They highlighted the dedication of these soldiers under challenging conditions.

These personnel helped safeguard national sovereignty and stability.

On an international level, they contributed to global peace and security. Their efforts enhanced Ghana’s reputation in peacekeeping missions with the UN and African Union.

Lieutenant General William Agyapong expressed gratitude on behalf of the President. He thanked them for their selfless service to both the military and country.

He also acknowledged the support from their families and wished them success in future endeavors.
