The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has expressed concern over recent mob attempts to disarm military personnel supporting the Ghana Police Service in maintaining law and order nationwide.
In a statement signed by Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie on December 10, GAF emphasized that soldiers have the right to defend themselves, civilians, and property, even using lethal force if necessary to protect lives.
The statement urged citizens to exercise civic rights responsibly, cooperate with security personnel, and refrain from actions that threaten national peace and stability.
This warning follows an incident in Obuasi on Election Day, where civilians attempted to disarm soldiers at a polling station. GAF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s stability and sovereignty.
