GBA urges Mahama to release full prima facie decision on Chief Justice suspension

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has urged President John Mahama to release the full decision against the Chief Justice.

This request comes after the Chief Justice's recent suspension. The suspension has sparked significant public interest and debate.

In a press statement, the GBA emphasized the need for transparency and due process. They believe these are crucial in handling such an important constitutional issue.

“The Ghana Bar Association calls upon the President to immediately release the full decision establishing a prima facie case against the Chief Justice,” said their statement.

The GBA argued that disclosing this information is essential for maintaining public confidence in the constitutional process.

They stated that releasing details would show adherence to justice, transparency, and fairness principles.

The association noted that past Article 146 proceedings included publishing prima facie findings for public accountability.

The GBA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law. They called on all stakeholders to handle this matter responsibly.

They urged the President and other constitutional actors to respect everyone's rights during this process.

Finally, they reminded the public that judicial independence is vital for Ghana’s democracy and must be protected at all times.
