GCB Bank PLC plans to launch a new savings product for Muslim customers. This product will help those aiming to undertake the holy pilgrimage to Mecca.
The announcement was made by Mr. Sina Kamagate, Executive Head of Retail Banking. He visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, on June 4 in Fadama-Accra. During this visit, GCB donated a large bull and cash for Eid al-Adha festivities.
Mr. Kamagate stated that this visit is part of GCB’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). He emphasized the importance of religious celebrations in Ghana's multi-religious society. Eid al-Adha is a sacred moment for Muslims, commemorating the sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim.
The bank’s donation aims to support the Chief Imam in hosting community members during this festival. Mr. Kamagate also expressed concern for the Chief Imam's well-being and acknowledged the role of religious leaders in maintaining peace.
He announced GCB’s upcoming Hajj Account, a dedicated savings product for Muslims planning to perform Hajj. This account will assist individuals saving for their journey to Mecca.
Mr. Kamagate explained that the Hajj Account will be inclusive and accessible. It targets those building small but consistent savings toward this important milestone.
He reassured that GCB does not discriminate in its offerings. The bank provides church accounts, mosque accounts, and more to serve Ghana’s diverse religious communities.
The Chief Imam thanked GCB Bank for its ongoing support and innovative products tailored to faith-based needs.
