The Ghana Energy Awards (GEA) Secretariat and Awarding Panel met with the Minister of Energy, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, on Tuesday. They discussed ways to achieve energy excellence in Ghana.
The delegation was led by Kwame Jantuah, Chairman of the Awards. He is also an energy consultant. Other members included Dr. Kwame Ampofo, Dr. Jemima Nunoo, and Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh.
Mr. Henry Teinor led the Awards Secretariat team, which included Mr. Eugene Amoako, Mr. Kwame Atiase, Mr. Emmanuel Abossey, and Miss Stephanie Tetteh.
This meeting continued a nine-year partnership between the Ministry and GEA. Their focus is on dialogue, recognizing industry excellence, and supporting Ghana’s energy transition.
Mr. Jantuah highlighted the role of independent platforms like GEA in strengthening the energy sector. He stated that these institutions help assess performance and keep the sector on track.
He added that their initiative benefits from support from the Ministry and other organizations like the World Energy Council Ghana.
“Our goal is to align sector institutions with global benchmarks,” he said.
Mr. Jinapor welcomed their engagement and emphasized collaboration with GEA. He expressed gratitude for their encouragement and support.
The minister mentioned a significant debt of over US$ 3 billion in the sector. He said they look forward to partnering to improve efficiency in energy services.
“I assure you of my full support,” he stated confidently.
Mr. Teinor thanked the Ministry for its ongoing assistance with GEA initiatives.
“We value this partnership beyond just awards night,” he noted.
The 9th Ghana Energy Awards will launch soon to celebrate excellence in the sector.
